Cape Town, September 21, 2018 – Pupil on teacher attacks are increasing in the Western Cape. And worryingly, it’s primary school children who are mostly the culprits. A shocking 60 incidents have been reported since the beginning of the year. There’s a fear of mass resignations if the situation isn’t handled effectively. Muslim marriages must be recognised in South Africa
Cape Town, August 31, 2018 – The Western Cape High Court has ruled that Muslim marriages are valid and should be recognised by the Constitution. Muslim marriages have previously not been recognised as either civil or customary unions. Lawmakers have 24 months to rectify this.
