CT owes contractor R51 million

Cape Town, May 15, 2019 – Cape Town owes a whopping R51-million to a private contractor for a desalination project. Quality Filtration Systems, which runs the V&A Waterfront plant, is now taking the City to court. Not only has the City been refusing to pay, it’s also not using the water produced at the plant. The contractor believes the City is trying to force it to close down.

Atlantis residents say education will drive their economic zone

Cape Town, April 9, 2019 – Atlantis residents in Cape Town are sceptical after the area has been declared a special economic zone. They believe actually making the area economically viable for investment, is a tall order. Bo-Kaap granted heritage

Cape Town, March 31, 2019 – After years of fighting the City of Cape Town, Bo-Kaap residents have finally managed to secure municipal heritage protection. A lengthy public participation saw 2 300 votes in favour, and only 27 against the move. Now, new developments and alterations to old buildings will have to follow strict guidelines on height, style and construction materials used. This, all in line with the area’s character.
