Cape Town, May 15, 2019 – Cape Town owes a whopping R51-million to a private contractor for a desalination project. Quality Filtration Systems, which runs the V&A Waterfront plant, is now taking the City to court. Not only has the City been refusing to pay, it’s also not using the water produced at the plant. The contractor believes the City is trying to force it to close down.

The Islamic call to prayer can be heard five times a day in cities and towns the world over. In Cape Town, a resident has complained that the call is “too noisy”. Members of the Muslim community are incensed that a formal investigation will now be pursued.

Cape Town, March 31, 2019 – After years of fighting the City of Cape Town, Bo-Kaap residents have finally managed to secure municipal heritage protection. A lengthy public participation saw 2 300 votes in favour, and only 27 against the move. Now, new developments and alterations to old buildings will have to follow strict guidelines on height, style and construction materials used. This, all in line with the area’s character.
